After nine magical holiday seasons at the Fairmont Banff Springs, Carter-Ryan Productions’ much-loved A Christmas Carol begins an exciting new chapter. For the first time, Bridget Ryan is reimagining her adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless Christmas story specifically for the intimate 51-seat Carter-Ryan Theatre on Main Street in Canmore.

On Christmas Eve, Ebenezer Scrooge wants nothing to do with Christmas, kindness or his fellow man. But when three extraordinary spirits lead him through his past, present and the future that awaits him, Scrooge is given one remarkable night to rediscover joy, generosity and what it means to truly be part of a community.

Cody Porter stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in this newly imagined production, bringing audiences closer than ever to the characters, music and magic that have made Carter-Ryan’s A Christmas Carol a cherished holiday tradition. With puppetry, beautiful singing, theatrical illusion and an original score by Brian Raine, Bridget Ryan transforms the familiar story for Carter-Ryan’s intimate stage, where every ghost, every laugh and every moment of wonder unfolds just feet from the audience.

With Musical Direction by Morgan McKee, this is not simply a transfer of the production audiences have come to love. It is a new, intimate A Christmas Carol created especially for its new home.
