What started out in 2017, at the Canmore Nordic Centre, as a way to get local kids involved in National level mountain bike race competition has turned into a full-blown international event. The international governing body, UCI, has asked Canmore to be the Canadian stop on a new Continental Series for Cross Country Mountain Bike Racing. This is big news for the mountain bike scene in Canada, as well as for Canmore and Alberta. Many of the top North and South American riders, as well as some Europeans are expected to be in attendance.
In addition to racing, a festival atmosphere is planned with market style vendors, beer gardens, and food trucks. Spectator-friendly viewing locations will be established and well marked for the public to experience world-class racing at close hand. Most trails will also remain open during the racing for recreational riders to experience the great trails at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
The entire race and festival are free to attend for the public.
