This recreational area was built around a reclaimed mining quarry that was turned into a swimmable lake fed by an underground mountain spring. Quarry Lake Park is a popular summer spot for both locals and visitors, offering views of Mount Rundle, Ha Ling Peak, and the Fairholme Range. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy a snack in the open park area surrounding the lake or make a sandcastle on the beach. In July and August, the lake is warm enough to go for a swim, but be aware that the water is 100-metres deep in places and there’s no lifeguard on duty. You can also lace up your sneakers and walk the park’s trails, or exercise your pup in the large off-leash area. When the snow falls, you can use those same trails for cross-country skiing.
