This recreational area was built around a reclaimed mining quarry that was turned into a swimmable lake fed by an underground mountain spring. Quarry Lake Park is a popular summer spot for both locals and visitors, offering views of Mount Rundle, Ha Ling Peak, and the Fairholme Range. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy a snack in the open park area surrounding the lake or make a sandcastle on the beach. In July and August, the lake is a popular area to go for a swim but be aware that the water is 100 meters deep in places and there’s no lifeguard on duty. You can also lace up your sneakers and walk or bike the park’s trails, or exercise your pup in the large off-leash area.

Roam Transit has launched the new Route 12 service that connects downtown Canmore to Quarry Lake, Canmore Nordic Centre and Grassi Lakes trailhead. This route runs on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Statutory holiday Mondays from May to September. All Canmore local routes are FREE of charge.
