This recreational area was built around a reclaimed mining quarry that was turned into a swimmable lake fed by an underground mountain spring. Quarry Lake Park is a popular summer spot for both locals and visitors, offering views of Mount Rundle, Ha Ling Peak, and the Fairholme Range. You can also lace up your sneakers and walk the park’s trails, or exercise your pup in the large off-leash area. When the snow falls, you can use those same trails for cross-country skiing.
Are you planning a visit to Quarry Lake?
The area has seen increased visitation this summer and there are a number of things you should know to enjoy your visit.
- There are no lifeguards on duty at Quarry Lake, swim at your own risk.
- Use garbage bins. If a bin is full look for another one or pack your garbage out with you. Quarry Lake is adjacent to a wildlife habitat patch and is an important area for wildlife.
- Parking is only available in the Quarry Lake parking lot, and not in adjacent neighbourhoods. There is no parking allowed on Highway 742. If the parking lot is full, Quarry Lake Park is at capacity.
