This recreational area was built around a reclaimed mining quarry that was turned into a swimmable lake fed by an underground mountain spring. Quarry Lake Park is a popular summer spot for both locals and visitors, offering views of Mount Rundle, Ha Ling Peak, and the Fairholme Range. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy a snack in the open park area surrounding the lake or make a sandcastle on the beach. In July and August, the lake is warm enough to go for a swim but be aware that the water is 100 meters deep in places and there’s no lifeguard on duty. You can also lace up your sneakers and walk the park’s trails, or exercise your pup in the large off-leash area. When the snow falls, you can use those same trails for cross-country skiing.
