Built in honour of Banff National Park’s 125th anniversary, the Legacy Trail is a 22.3 km (13.6 mi) multi-use recreational paved pathway and parkway. Walk, bike or rollerblade amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Canadian Rockies. Rest at one of the picnic shelters and check out the informative interpretive panels along the trail. An additional 4.5 km (2.8 mi) trail outside of Banff National Park links the town of Banff with Canmore, in Kananaskis Country.
Future construction plans include an extension to the Canmore Nordic Centre to provide even more connections throughout the Bow Valley.
Free parking for people using the trail is located across the street.
The trail typically opens in mid-April and remains accessible until mid-October, as it is not maintained during the winter months.
