Visit WebsiteBow Valley Provincial Park is a mountain paradise tucked into the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies. Better still, it’s 103 km (64 mi) west of Calgary, making it an easy day trip.
Of course, you might want to stay a little longer. That’s because the park offers almost endless recreational opportunities. Anglers can’t resist the world-famous trout fishing. Paddlers of all skill levels launch their boats and boards at Canoe Meadows. The Widowmaker offers challenging whitewater and excellent vantage points for spectators. Trails throughout the park attract hikers, mountain bikers, snowshoers and cross-country skiers.
Eight campgrounds in the park make it easy to extend your stay. Most are open from May to September, but winter sites are available. The Kananaskis Visitor Information Centre is a helpful first stop for those new to the area. It also has free Wi-Fi, just in case you need it.
