When we slip toward our final dream, beneath the ground, the layers of prehistoric limestone — among the bones of creatures who once swam the warm water oceans that lay upon the land? Let go the comforts of home and follow the tones of the hang drum down into the deep — the realm beneath the surface, deep in the belly of a forgotten place and time. Enter the darkness… see the light.
The Festival of Animated Objects, Canadian Academy of Mask and Puppetry, and Canmore Cave Tours presents a new, immersive opera experience, featuring original choral music by Cassandra J. Dueck.
Cave of Dreams is a reflective ode to the other side; featuring stirring choral arrangements, luminous puppetry and hand drum accompaniment. Experience the acoustics of a real, undeveloped natural cave. This is not your typical opera event – you’ll be dressed head-to-toe in high-quality caving equipment and teamed up with the experienced guides at Canmore Cave Tours to walk, shimmy and crawl into the depths of the earth to reach your performance venue.
